Wayatinah Lakeside Caravan Park

The Wayatinah Lakeside Caravan Park has for many years been a holiday destination for Tasmanian families because of its safety for children from main road traffic, its extensive area for kids to play and with the pool and tennis court to cool off or exercise, what more can they need.

The village has its own small and challenging 6 hole golf course, lovingly maintained by local volunteers.

Fishing in the lake is superb with many a large fish finding its way onto campers plates. The lake is man made and has never been stocked with fish, as, when the lake was formed as a hydro storage lake, there were many trees left on or near the bottom. These play havoc with lures but ensure that young fish have a place to grow in safety .

There are many places to fish from small boats or the bank and the camp manager has a map available pointing out good spots.

The caravan park is located in the middle of Tasmania and is more and more being discovered by interstate and international campers and is often used as the first nights stopover on a trip between Hobart and Strahan. 

Many find the peace and beauty of this park too enjoyable to hurry away from and stay for a few days to catch up on rest and laundry.

  When you are here you will have very little chance of not talking to David or Diane, the camp owners. They are more than happy to tell you of places of interest, both locally and for day trips to places of interest in the vicinity.

 

Most times firepots are available for those that like to sit around the campfire and we are tolerant to considerate off road bike riders while totally non tolerant to inconsiderate ones. This also applies to loud partying, we are a camp that caters for families first and while social gatherings are encouraged, loud music and drunken behavior are not.
