Byfield Campstay

Private Campground - Queensland

Byfiield Campstay is a quiet natural bush site, a base to relax or explore  local Forest and National parks and other unique attractions.

This area is home of the Great Imperial Fruit Dove [or Wompoo Pigeon] and the unique Byfield Fern [Bowenia Serralata]. Byfield Campstay is situated on the “migratory trail”, meaning that different birds are always passing through. A wide variety of native wild life may be seen – wallabies, bandicoots, bush turkeys[amazing nests], and reptiles. Occasional visitors are wild pigs, dingoes and brumbies.

Originally a citrus orchard, Beth and Chris decided to diversify. They planted Quandong and Byfield Pine trees for timber, and now have many varieties of fruit trees including sapotes, sapodillas, grumachumas, jaboticabas, jackfruit, avocadoes and bananas. Beth and Chris enjoy this place so much they want to share the pleasure with others. To keep the peacefulness and unspoiled beauty, a low impact campsite has been chosen – and it has to be eco-friendly as this is also an organic farm.

The Campsite:

Come in and light a fire, boil the billy and then if you wish to stay, register and pay at the Roundhouse. Level grass sites for tents, trailers and camper vans.  Plenty of room for privacy. This is a “Bush Camp” Eco toilets, Bucket-showers, solar hot water, peace and quiet.

Peaceful – because no 240v power, no tv reception and  limited mobile signals.

We also ask: no generators from 7pm. to 7am. and no loud music. You have the sounds of the bush to enjoy. Animals are welcome, under control.
