Camping area features: resting on an old vegetated sand spit between what was once two islands, Neck Bay offers a remote camping experience. The site is a popular stopover with kayakers travelling between Mackay and Airlie Beach.
Location: north-west side of Shaw Island, approximately 40 km south-east of Shute Harbour.
Access: the camping area can be reached by boat (only) at all tides. Each year from 1 October to 31 March access restrictions apply east of Burning Point to protect nesting sea birds.
Number of sites: open area without separately defined sites. Maximum of 12 people.
