Featuring modern facilities, spacious drive through sites and self contained cabins, this outback accommodation venue is bound to delight.


We have thought of your needs when building our park and we know you will appreciate all the features!  

  • The Opal Caravan Park, Lightning Ridge is set in a peaceful environment and is perfect for those looking for a base to revive, tour and explore.
  • We are conveniently located opposite the Walgett Shire Council owned Hot Artesian Bore Baths, which are open 24/7,FREE entry.
  • The Opal Caravan Park features large and roomy ensuite caravan/camping sites. Generally measuring 15 metres x 8 metres.
  • We also offer spacious drive through powered sites and plenty of camping areas. 
  • Our well-appointed self-contained cabins with ensuite are clean, modern and feature great kitchens, patios and are all heated/airconditioned for your comfort. 
  • The large, clean amenities block has roomy showers, plenty of hand basins and mirrors and ample laundry facilities.  
  • The camp kitchens and fire pit are perfect for enjoying a BBQ and a quiet evening around the fire with new friends. 
  • You can stay in touch with your loved ones with Free WIFI access throughout the park.
  • Heated inground swimming pool     
  • We are pet friendly (on leash).  We also operate a doggie day care centre for when you go to attractions.
  • We are close to the centre of town and many of the local attractions.
  • We operate a Courtesy Bus, for all guests wanting to go into town. Hours of operation are per demand between 12 noon and 3pm daily. Please book at Reception, open 8am - 6pm daily.

This is possibly one of the best caravan parks in Australia. A lot of clever planning has gone into its establishment and layout. All areas are dry gravel which works very well in this environment. Powered sites are mostly drive through and are huge. Gardens and landscaping is very professional. Massive amenity block with large cubicles and glass doors on the showers. Even got hairdryers in the ladies’. Everything is immaculate. Winter is peak season so booking ahead is highly adviseable. $34.20 pn in July 2018 school holidays. Well done to all concerned. Highly recommend.

The best Caravan Park I have ever stayed in by far, excellent facilities and well maintained, will definitely return to this park.

This van park is immaculate. Staff are friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. Amenities are the cleanest I have come across in any caravan park I have stayed in. The pool is sparkling and crystal clear. Most sites appear to be drive through and are large. Power, water and waste dump all available. Artesian hotwater spa is within walking distance and free 24 7. I think this place would be packed in winter. We attended in December and it was almost empty. The outside temp was almost 40. If we ever come back to the Ridge this is the only place I’ll stay at.
