This free camping area is located on the Murrumbidgee River and is a great spot for fishing. There are no facilities here so you will need to be self sufficient. It has lots of trees to provide shade here. It is located 169km west of the Newell Highway/Sturt Highway junction or 3km east of South Hay. Turn north at the "Brandons Bend Reserve" sign and travel 150m on the dirt road to the south bank of the river.

Pleasant spot just out of town between the highway and the river extending for about a kilometre along the river. Distance between highway and river varies from less than a hundred metres to about 400 metres so traffic noise was not a problem. These sorts of camps on the town outskirts are sometimes littered with broken glass and other litter but this site was absolutely clean. On a walk along a kilometre or more of riverbank I picked up one beer bottle and one biro. Fires might be allowed here but there was no supplied firewood so you would need to bring your own or collect from the reserve. I dont know if that would be allowed in a reserve?
I didnt find any rubbish bins or picnic tables.
Not a lot of room for longer vehicles or caravans but OK for smaller vehicles. Dirt tracks through the reserve so definitely a dry weather only site.
