Woodleigh Station

Private Campground - Queensland

Woodleigh Station is a working cattle property that's been in the Williams family for five generations. In addition to breeding cattle we also enjoy sharing our lifestyle, striking landscape, and outback experiences with visitors from around the world.

At Woodleigh Station, we offer

Day Tours – enjoy a meal amid beautiful gardens and learn about Woodleigh's rich history with a tour through the original homestead built in 1876.

• Farm Stays – if an afternoon just isn't enough, you can come stay with us for a few days and experience the Australian country lifestyle for yourself.

• Camping – get away from reality with a stay in the great outdoors. 'Rough it' without any creature comforts or have the fun without the messy parts at one of our powered sites.

• Functions – celebrate in grand style with wide open spaces, and choose from an array of fun activities to pass the time.

• Weddings – the gardens in bloom are the perfect backdrop for your dream wedding, and Woodleigh Station will give it that special country flair.

Woodleigh Station holds the best of both worlds; although easily accessible, Woodleigh is also distant enough from civilisation to allow you to fully experience the Aussie outback lifestyle.

To visit Woodleigh is to be part of a unique experience, so ensure your tour through North Queensland includes this genuine view of Australian bush life.

Woodleigh Station offers four types of accommodation: a self-contained unit, motel-style rooms, dormitory lodging, and camping.

If you’re looking to 'rough it' without any creature comforts then one of Woodleigh’s unpowered camping sites is for you. There are a number of locations around the property, almost all of them near water. These spots are highly sought after, especially at Easter and Christmas, so get in quick!

If relaxed comfort is more your style, there are a limited number of powered sites near the Woodleigh Station homestead. Close to the Millstream River, this area has access to bathrooms, electricity, and a designated bonfire area. The nearby Millstream has swimming spots suitable for most levels of experience, and is great for canoeing and fishing. Bream, perch, and cod are found in these waters, and if you're lucky you might even spy a turtle or croc – but don’t worry, only fresh water crocodiles are found in the Millstream.

Directions from Cairns to Woodleigh Station –

1. Simply follow the Kennedy Highway, which runs all the way from Cairns through the Atherton Tablelands and to the Woodleigh Station turnoff.

2. About 22 kilometres out of Ravenshoe there is a white 44-gallon drum on the left-hand side. Above it is a sign that says “Woodleigh”. (If you cross the Wild River or reach Innot Hot Springs, you’ve gone too far).

3. Turn left at the drum and follow the dirt road for about 3.5 kilometres until you see cattle yards and the homestead gardens on the left.

Beautiful spot beside the river, but for the $'s per night for nothing other than the view is expensive, considering the free Archer River is just up the road one way and two other freebies on the wild river stock route the other way.
