This gorgeous free camping area is located beside the banks of the flowing river. It has a maximum stay of 4 weeks and is grassy and offers plenty of shade if desired. There are two entrances from Tooma Road so you are able to camp on either side of the river.
Here you will find toilets with disabled access, non-potable water, picnic tables, BBQ's, basic camp kitchen and dogs are allowed. It is a nice spot to have a swim, do some fishing or kayaking. There is also the Hume-Howell walking trackhead located here as well. The grass is so lush and green, you will want to spend quite a bit of time here.
A great free camp location. Grassed throughout. Large with plenty of choices where to park & shade too. Good facilities.
*The Hume & Hovell walking track which this camp site is on, is still closed in parts due to fire damage.
I have just spent Christmas New Year here with family. What a great spot not far from Tumbarumba about 7 km. Tumbarumba has a great Bakery (try the Ned Kelly pie) and two supermarkets IGA and Foodworks and both have bottle shops. Two hotels and two service stations and a Mitre Ten. Dump point in the town adjacent to the Information Centre. If you are going to stay longer than 5 days best to get a permit there. I did hear that the stay is four weeks in anyone year. Flushing toilets, hot and cold water in the camp kitchen and toilets, large skip bin which got a bit full because the place was fairly full. There were trout in the river but not legal. Internet is patchy but text and limited phone service if you are with Telstra
to the platform are logged to ensure unauthorised access to the service does not occur. Copyright (C) 2019-2020
