Note: It is closed each year from 1st May to 31st October.
The campgrounds are attractive but facilities are basic. There are no powered sites.
Black River campground has pit toilets and a hybrid toilet. Peggs Beach campground has flushing toilets. There is no safe drinking at either location. Water from the campground tank should be boiled for at least three minutes or treated before drinking.
Both campgrounds are quite close to the busy Bass Highway but the adjacent wide beach with four-wheel-drive boat-launching facilities more than compensates for this. Vehicle acces of the beach is for boat launch and retrieval only, four-wheel-driving is otherwise not permitted.
Peggs Beach tent sites are nestled among coastal vegetation. The more open areas can accommodate caravans. A shower cubicle is available for campers to hang solar showers.
Black River campground is very popular with locals and spots are at a premium the summer holiday season. Secluded sites among trees are next to the Black River estuary.
Please take all rubbish away with you.
Generators can be used from 10am to 8pm.
