Gidgee's Bush Camp

Private Campground - Queensland

We are situated on the out skirts of Morven, at the western end of Roma Street.  We are located 1.5 km from the Morven State School or Post Office so look for the signs or go to our facebook page gidgeesbushcamp to watch the how to find us video.

Gidgee's Bush Camp is set up on what was once known as the butcher’s block, complete with hide shed, piggery and slaughter houses.  The slaughter houses have now been made into an out door smoko area which we have called “Kill for A Cuppa”.

Morven is all about location.  We are half way between Brisbane & Birdsville but you can also head North to Longreach and explore the Central West or the top end of Queensland. Morven makes up one of the 4 towns in the Murweh Shire. So day trips to attractions in Charleville such as the Mulga Lands, Bilbies, Historic House, War Museum,  Cosmos Centre RFDS Base are all possible from this point. & Augathella to see Q100 building, Smiley and Meat Ant attractions.

Stage one of our camping park project is providing a quiet and safe bush camping area in a rural environment. Campers must come fully self-contained.  You must have your own shower/toilet, however there is a porta loo at the coffee shop that can be used by guests.  We have washup water and drinking water in the camp kitchen, however van fill up will need to be done at the local dump station.  There are no powered sites at this  stage. Grey water can be used on some of the gardens.

We are located just 1.5km just off  the Warrego Highway, which means you do not have too far to get peace and quiet.  The campgrounds are on 180 acres of  freehold land and stage 1 of our project is set on 10 acres. We run stud goats and sheep on our property.  We also have horses, working dogs, chooks, usually a poddy calf , lamb & goat or two.  We have additional grazing that is not attached to the camping grounds , where we operate a small grazing enterprise.

We have both a morning meeting area filled with rustic memorabilia complete with a retro coffee trailer called Kill for a Cuppa.  It is open to the public between 9am to 12 noon Monday to Friday from April to September.  If you are camping with us we also open the coffee shop from 8am to 9 am on request most week ends.

A Bush kitchen is available all day complete with sink, Bar-B-Que, wood stove and fire rings for evening  gatherings.  There is running water in the sink and is also great to drink.

Peaceful, quaint and quirky and certainly more interesting than your average Bush Camp. A pleasant walk into a nice country town and an excellent cup of coffee. We will stay again if it is on our route.
