The camping ground is located near the American River Boat Ramp. American River is a sheltered small village, popular for aquatic activities including fishing, boating, sailing and fishing. Although not located at the camping ground, a sheltered playground is available nearby. There is a general store at American River and a number of dining options.  This is a pet friendly campground.

Fees

Fees apply for each location and are made onsite via a self-registration booth (iron ranger - cash only). 

Credit card (Visa or Mastercard only) payments can be made at American River, Vivonne Bay and Brown Beach camping ground locations using the PARKEON Pay station. Coin payment is also accepted $2, $1, 50c, 20c, 10c - No change or refunds given.

Council does not take bookings for the sites and availability is on a first come, first serve basis.

Generators are permitted between 7:00am and 10:00pm.

Fuel of any sort in no longer available at America River

Excellent location. Would be cramped during busy season. Non potable water, powered sites (about 8) next to each other. Non Permanent sites, more for tents. On the spot Self registration via ticket machine that is hard to follow. Hot Showers $2 and clean toilets. Recommend, Especially during off season.
