The Black Stump Rest Area

Rest Area Overnight - New South Wales

This free overnight rest area is located off the highway.  It is a great rest area actually and is used as a driver reviver in holiday periods.  It has a childrens playground and the views from the lookout are fantastic.  It is also where the claim of fame "The Black Stump" originated from.  It has toilets with disabled access, water, picnic tables, BBQ's and dogs are welcome.

A bitumen layby with grassed area behind it, which would be limited to about 8 motorhomes or caravans. But overnight parking on bitumen no problem. Set in lovely countryside, it has a very modern brick-built toilet block which even has a Mothers Room. Water to hand basins and flush toilets but no tap for filling your water tanks.

Nice circular well cared for rest area - there is parking behind the amenities block but not a big area. Should not be a problem on the hard stand. There is even a black stump there to go with the name of the rest area.

Well cared for, scenic overnight stop. Traffic settles after dark and all quiet. Have stayed here a couple of times.

Conveniently located about 10k north of Coolah, from the road this just looks like a small layby rest area but there is room behind the amenities block which is modern. There is also block build shelter with tables etc. There would be room for about six rigs on the hard stand.
