Need to escape the city? Wouldn't a house in the country be a great get away!  Why not retreat to the Highlands and enjoy the fresh air, cool temperature, rolling hills and wonderful self-contained accommodation offered at Highfield Cottage.

Just 90 minutes from Sydney and Canberra, Highfield Cottage is nestled on Mt Gingenbullen or what was locally known as "Judges Hill".

The property was owned by Judge W G Walker who built Highfield Cottage as the Gate Keeper's Lodge in the Queen Anne Federation style to complement the main homestead built in 1901.

The prestigious entrance to the property is marked with Bundanoon sandstone and black, wrought iron, antique gates.

You will be immediately astonished by the huge pine trees lining the driveway as you meander your way up to the Cottage and survey the surrounding stunning 360 degree Highland views.

The timber, two storey Cottage provides comfortable accomodation for up to four guests and includes three bedrooms (two double and one single).

The bedrooms are decorated with period hangings, cottage fabrics and timber furnishings and include clock/radios, reading lamps, electric blankets and heating.

A tasteful living and dining room decorated with throw rugs, lamps and good books to read, a TV/DVD Player, indoor games and telephone facilities will ensure a comfortable stay.

Electric and gas heating, and electric blankets on the beds provide a warm and cosy atmosphere.

The fully equipped kitchen has a sunny bay window, breakfast table and seating for four. Facilities include microwave oven, fridge and electric cooktop and oven. We provide a breakfast starter hamper on arrival.

The property uses rain water so enjoy a rainwater shower/bath. Fresh towels, linen, ironing board and iron are also provided. The laundry is available for longer stays and includes a washer and dryer.

Enjoy the outdoors in the surrounding landscaped gardens and savour the scent of lavender, relax or picnic on the lawns or sit on the haddonstone courtyard under the shade of the large camphor laurel tree.

The views stretch for miles, and the peace and quiet in the clean country air will invigorate your soul.
