Bonshaw Weir

Free Camping - New South Wales

Favourite

Bonshaw Weir is on the Dumaresq River and located 10km north of Bonshaw. There is a free camp area at the weir on the New South Wales side of the river. There is no designated boat ramp at Bonshaw Weir.  It is suitable for kayaks or small vessels.

This free camping area is quite nice and is on the banks of the wier. You can fish and swim anywhere except within 200 metres of the weir itself.

It is grassy and offers plenty of shade.

Access to the campground is via a concrete culvert which can overflow after heavy rain, making it impossible to enter/exit except for high clearance vehicles.

Here you will find picnic tables, BBQ's and fireplaces. Dogs are permitted here as well.

We overnighted here and found the place quite crowded some obviously long term campers. Would be careful in wet weather as the grounds were a bit cut up. There were some nice photo opportunities but our visit was a bit ruined by a mouse plague.
