Evening Star Tourist Park

Caravan Park - Queensland

Favourite

Located 8 km west of Charleville on the Adavale road, the Evening Star Tourist Park is called after its namesake, as Venus shines her brightest here in our western skies. Located in the heart of what is called the Mulgalands of south west QLD Australia, we offer for you the chance to immerse yourself in the night sky as nature intended. Adjoining Thurlby station, an aggregation of a 33000 acres rangeland grazing property, the Evening Star Tourist Park is the ideal location to discover the history, landscape and people of Charleville and surrounding regions and learn about who we are and where we call home.

Van Sites (powered/unpowered) and Camping

With numerous sites to choose, powered sites are 20 m by 8 m and are all drive through with power and water available at each site entry.  Sites have a collection of native plants species endemic to the area and offer shade and privacy as well as fluttering bird life. Plenty of room to move for campers with pastured areas to set up - or go remote and pitch your tent away on the red earth soils amongst the mulga.

Amenities, laundry, camp kitchen, BBQ, bar, entertainment

Two amenities blocks conveniently situated with easy reach and one with ramp and disabled wheeler chair access. Ensuites design, good pressure shower and toilet in each with on demand hot water. The laundry has 3 washing machines catering for big and small loads. The camp kitchen is a highlight with over 120 square meters under cover with guest fridge, freezer, BBQs and sink areas for you to prepared and enjoy your meals any time of the day. The Evening Star tourist park has a licenced bar that is open from 5 pm onwards most days throughout the season with a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages available at reasonable prices. It is here that our friends and guest relax and unwind around what is probably the best campfire settings in south-west Qld. Things to do

The main office block is gathering place with tea and coffee available under protected seating. Go exploring through the Mulgalands on the numerous bush tracks and you might find yourself at the Old Woolshed where the stationary motors still run and discover the old farm machinery from yesteryear scattered through the property. Around the Campfire most evenings, we also undertake community introductions and discussion about the people, the lifestyles and the environmental values found in south west QLD . This conversation entails the various riverine catchments found out here, the current challenges facing rural communities and rangeland grazing systems as well as the potential opportunities we can undertake to ensure vibrant and resilience landscapes and communities.

Drive through sites, large campfire and social meeting area with bar, damper was cooked by the owners and handed around. I also enjoyed the Star Gazing at the Woolshed for $20, hot chocolate and rugs were supplied.

We have just spent 5 nights at the Evening Star. It lives up to its introduction. The facilities are spotless the staff and owners are very welcoming and cannot do enough for you. The sites are big level and very easy to access. They have a campfire meet and great and happy hour every night. You can BYO or buy at their licensed bar. They also have home made damper every night. Some nights there is a meal. The staff and owner are extremely knowledgeable and are happy to share their knowledge. The Thurlby Station farm tour is well worth doing. Craig is such a wealth of knowledge. The friendliness of the park is illustrated by the number of people who return year after year and those that book in for a night or 2 and end up staying a week or 2 or more.
