Lorne Station is just 5 minutes from the centre of Lightning Ridge on the outskirts of the opal fields. Only 200 metres from the white mullock heaps of the opal fields. Lorne Station is one of the only working stations in the area that provides tourist accommodation. You can enjoy a true outback experience at this quiet and scenic holiday retreat.
Lorne Station is situated on 10,000 acres in New South Wales, Australia just minutes from the town of Lightning Ridge. Lorne Station offers a variety of accommodation to suit your budget and needs from tent, powered, unpowered sites to bunk houses all have access to the communal kitchen, disabled toilet.
We take great care of customers with specific needs. If it is possible we do our utmost to look after the people who need special care. The amenities block is fitted with disabled shower and toilets, in both the mens and the womens.
Lorne station does not provide permanent caravan sites. Maximum stay is one month.
We are Pet Friendly. Lorne can offer you something a little different and true country hospitality.
Activities
- Opal fossicking or noodling at the heap next to the office.
- Bring your push bike and explore our historic property.
- Spot the koalas, kangaroos, emus and various lizards. Cheap as chips.
- Catching yabbies for dinner. These are very tasty, blue claw yummy yabbies and cook them on our open camp fire.
Directions - Turn off Old Lorne Road at GPS and follow the road until you reach the station.
